Product Manager, GRC External Reporting Solutions

EDGAR Online Inc. is seeking an experienced product manager who will own the product strategy, roadmap/release plan, and commercial success of the company’s disclosure management/compliance solutions.

Generally, this role will be responsible for understanding the needs of each target market for external business reporting / disclosure management ranging from self-filers to filing services providers. This role will qualify business opportunities represented by various market segments, work with product development to drive the roadmap of offerings for each segment, understand and communicate how to win in a competitive environment, successfully enable our distribution channels, and measure each product’s success.

Reports to: VP of Product Management
Location: Rockville, MD preferred. Bellevue, WA or New York, NY for the right candidate
  • Maintain market awareness and catalog requirements from market stakeholders (customers, partners, regulatory bodies, standards bodies, etc.)
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of the external reporting processes across market segments, including both in-house and outsourced reporting models
  • Perform competitive research and use this knowledge to design, package, price, and position our products and services
  • Prioritize requirements based on various factors including time-to-market, customer value, competitiveness, etc. and track prioritized requirements
  • using Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS)
  • Help facilitate buy/build/partner decisions
  • Define products that can stand on their own or be part of larger solutions distributed by resellers and OEM partners
  • Work with other product management team members to maintain a coordinated product roadmap
  • Manage release cycles by organizing various enhancements into projects, engaging IT, other Product Management functions, and Product Development in the process of producing a new release, and launching the new release as it becomes available
  • Work with Services on training and other content needed to successfully launch a new release
  • Work with Marketing on collateral and other content development (presentation decks, web pages, self-guided demos, etc.)
  • Support Marketing with public and analyst relations activities, tradeshows and other events, etc.
  • Support the Sales team with materials, demos/scripts, and other enablement capabilities; Engagement directly with prospects as the solutions expert
  • when called upon by Sales
  • Work with Marketing on demand-creation activities targeted at new and existing customers
  • Help the organization make product sales goals and track progress against those goals
  • Bachelors degree in business or technology required; MBA or CPA preferred
  • A background in any of the following areas is a significant plus:
    • Accounting/finance
    • Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC)
    • US Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC EDGAR) reporting
  • Extensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL)
  • Top-tier problem-solving skills with the ability to achieve results despite ambiguity
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills; Ability to communicate with senior executives
  • Ability to drive cross-team collaboration and consensus on product requirements and priorities for both short and long-term product plans
  • 5-8 years of demonstrated experience in product management, product planning or equivalent experience in a high tech company with exposure to product and software development cycles and engineering teams
  • Data driven with strong analytical and cross-group collaboration skills to bring the organization to consensus on decisions
  • Ability to think strategically about technology and its business implications, especially as it relates to Extensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL)
  • Technical aptitude needed to understand the implications of technical product decisions
  • The ability to multi-task and manage simultaneous projects
  • The ability to think differently, challenge conventional wisdom, and drive new best practices
