EDGAR® Online is a leader in the business information industry specializing in the extraction, packaging and distribution of public company information.
Over the past several years, EDGAR Online has developed proprietary technologies to automate the ‘tagging’ of fundamental data and other financial information using XBRL (Extensible Business Reporting Language) concepts and supporting linkbase structures.
Heightened by SEC mandates and public company interest in XBRL formatted disclosure, EDGAR Online has the need to expand its current XBRL Taxonomy Management staff.
General DescriptionThe Sr. Taxonomy Manager will be responsible for the internal data processing strategy and implementation of XBRL taxonomies. This position will also be responsible for both directing and working collaboratively with other Taxonomy Managers to assess any need for XBRL Taxonomy projects required to adequately support company objectives. The Sr. Taxonomy Manager, in conjunction with EDGAR Online's technical XBRL specialists, will also play a key role in defining standards for data attributes and data taxonomy structures. It also should be expected that this role will interface with clients on a regular basis.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Evaluate the current and future industry specific XBRL taxonomies for use by EDGAR Online. – Canada, IFRS, RR, Moodys, SEC 2010, 2011 for Xcelerate, standardized financials and other future products.
• Analyze how current clients (e.g., financial advisors, consultants, etc) of EDGAR Online’s XBRL driven products use the information presented in XBRL.
• Develop, redesign and extend content and taxonomy strategies.
• Manage taxonomies, content, knowledge, and document management projects.
• Define the standards for data attributes and data taxonomy structure for content management system.
• Work with data analysts to identify and provide guidance on taxonomy element extensions.
• Plan and lead meetings, working sessions, content audits and analysis.
• Plan and oversee development of business and related technical documentation.
• Leadership of other taxonomy related resources
• Organize Taxonomy related training
• Work with senior management to anticipate and execute additional resource scaling initiatives
Specifications / QualificationsA Successful Applicant:
• Has extensive experience with XBRL.
• Has an in-depth knowledge of taxonomy, metadata, controlled, vocabularies, and classification.
• Has a strong background in the creation and application of fixed Chart of Accounts financial concepts to unique reported financial concepts.
• Has a strong sense of content organization.
• Has a familiarity with the database storage of any structured data (e.g., Chart of Accounts, Taxonomies, etc).
• Has experience implementing taxonomies or Charts of Accounts in complex environments.
• Has the ability to deliver under tight deadlines, while working in a highly complex technical and organizational environment.
• Has excellent verbal & written communication, leadership, inter-personal, problem-solving, facilitation and presentation skills.
• Is self-motivated, delivery focused, hands-on, creative, team-, detail- and client-service oriented, has excellent anticipatory skills, and works well within a collaborative environment.
• Has prior team leadership/management experience.
Education / Technical / Systems Experience:
Education Experience:
A BS Degree in Accounting/Finance or comparable degree is required. An advanced degree is preferred.
Accounting accreditation is required (CPA...)
Work Experience:
3+ years of experience leading and/or experience in content organization, cataloging, and retrieval .
Industry Experience:
Experience with financial organizations (Brokerage, Private Banking, Consumer Banking etc.) preferred but not required. Hands on experience with the preparation of company financial statements and experience relating to SEC content submission is strongly preferred.
This position will be located in our Rockville Maryland Office.
